Pros-you have someone you know to talk to
someone to help with camping chores\
people you already know and what to expect from them
    and they know you
someone to be with on those rainy days
after your trip you can share it with each other and make
up stories about bears and vampires
nice to have someone to gather around the campfire
    with
    protection

Cons-getting stuck with people that all of a sudden you don't
    get along with
arguments about what to do, what to eat, where to go.
spending time cooped up in tent when it rains and all
they do is bitch about the weather.

Going camping with friends is like lending money to a relative.

I'd rather go with my family, some of the above can still happen but I have control. But really enjoy camping alone. Time to think, no one to bother me, and I get a little lonely can always to talk to the other campers.

you'll want to find out if its every man for himself
or if it's a group effort
IE,is every one paying for food who is cooking who is bring cooking supplies
it will make your trip allot more fun not to have to argue about who didn't bring a pan to cook in

well just to let you know we went with family and it WAS planned that we would split everything meaning cost and chores we it didnt happen that way maybe the cost of food but when it came to chore I had to do it all for 3 days and where we went at night everything had to be put away in bear boxes anything that had a food smell had to be wiped down so it wouldnt attract bears, it made our trip missarable. You just have to choose carfully who you deside to go with.
