Get a cheaper air mattress for the first time.
You may find you don't even LIKE to go camping, then you haven't wasted the big bucks. If you enjoy camping and want to invest money, Coleman is always a good brand for camping equipment. |

It really depends on what kind of camping you're doing. If you can load up the car and camp next to it, the raised aero-bed is the king of air mattresses in my opinion. It's like a real bed.
If you're going to have to hike/walk to your campsite, Thermarest makes the best trail camp mattresses. They have several different sizes/thicknesses depending on your needs. |

Coleman. If you can fit it, get the raised mattress one. Very comfy. I got mine at Walmart a little less than $50.00

coleman. Coleman has some of the most comforatable air mattresses. they are pretty cheap about 45 bucks for a king size. If you can i would take a cot. they are so much more comforatable

You're too soft! Get a foam mat if you must, or just lay on your boyfriend.

some folks will tell you that you are not really camping if you don't have a rock in your back and a stick poking you in your butt,
be comfortable, no sense in being miserable, you can do that at work or school. go spend $20 or so , that will be kinda middle of the road |

That's cheating. Get a sleeping bag and sleep on the ground like a REAL camper.

Well you can either get a thin one or one that is double thick.
The double thick ones are more expensive. I would go to a sporting goods store or some place like target, wal mart, etc and look and see. I wouldn't spend more than $50 on a queen mattress though!! |

When I go camping there are times when I cannot take the camping air bed...but whenever I have a choice, hands down, a camping air mattress is the way to sleep if you want to be comfortable. And there is nothing wrong with being comfortable while you are camping...if you are not, in the long run you are not going to enjoy it and not want to go camping as often or at all anymore.
When looking for a raised camping air beds, the reputable names these days are Coleman, Intex, and AeroBed. Any bed you choose from one of these companies should provide you with comfortable camping nights and also give you a back up bed for guests in the house. However, when you are choosing your bed, make sure you look at these features before you make your decision. Does it come with an air pump? Some come with a built-in air pump, some come with a detached pump, and some don't come with a pump. Check the specifications of the model you are looking at!!! Those that are very inexpensive most likely do not include the pump. You will want a pump. Unless you are sure you will always be camping where there is electricity on your site, choose a pump that runs on batteries or runs on the car charger. It is a pain to have to go to the recreation hall or laundry room for electricity to inflate your air mattress and carry it all the way back to your site. Most air mattresses come with a duffel or storage tote which fits it perfectly for easy portability and storage. Make sure the model you are looking at has this. What is the depth of the mattress? While many of the camping air beds take regular sheets, some might surprise by only using deep-pocket sheets. If you don't have any of these this might be an unwanted surprise! Check to see what size sheets the bed takes before your purchase. What is it made of....outdoor mattress versus indoor mattress. If you are only camping once, you don't need to pay a little extra for the tougher material of the outdoor mattress. However, if you intend to do occasional to frequent camping, and you want your investment to last, all of the above manufacturers have a line of beds which are made for the outdoors. Some have a midrange line....great for the camper but also great to use at home. (Some also make an extreme, rugged line for the outdoor enthusiast!) Within each company, there are many varieties of camping air beds at many different prices. You will need to take a look at the different models to find which of the features will meet your specific needs. I would look at some of the different mattresses for all three companies, Coleman, Intex, and Aerobed...you can feel comfortable that you are making a good choice with them based on reliability and a good reputation and they will stand behind their products, and then you will be able to choose the BEST raised air mattress for YOU!!! Have a great time and sleep comfortably!!! |
