    The smoky mountains were one of my favorite places. I hiked the whole appalacian 2 years back. Anywhere on there is a great time. If you like backpacking its a great trip... and of course you dont have to do it all, or even all at once. The white mountains in New Hapshire are amazing. Mt Katadhin in ME is a great hike.

    No place is more beautiful then Yosemite national park, but for something closer to you go to Lassen National Park, or Lake Shasta.

    Check out this website for National Forest. Also check state parks, where you are located. Do a little homework and you can find a great spot.
